covid is affecting the sex life of men; Impotence also emerged as a side effect

In the second wave of corona virus, new things are coming out about the symptoms that came with it. Now new research has found that the sex life of men is also being affected by Kovid-19. According to the study, erectile dysfunction ie impotence is being seen in men due to corona.

The reason for this includes post-covid stress, depression as well as to some extent changes inside the body. We spoke to some experts on these studies to understand why this is happening and to what extent it is affecting men's sex drive.

In a study published in Men's Health, University of California urologist Dr. Howard Aubert says that before understanding this, the process of erection has to be understood. Actually, the penis (penis) is made up of three cylinders. The top two cylinders are filled with sponge-like expansive tissue. At the same time, the lower cylinder passes urine from the bladder.

When a person is agitated, it is due to the nervous response and the activity that is triggered by it. During this blood comes into the spongy tissue and they spread. The system is such that the blood stops there.

Then the person feels the erection. For this it is necessary that sufficient amount of nitric oxide is released from the nerve. The veins should be open enough to allow blood to flow out of it. When blood is not able to reach the penis due to some reason, then there is no erection and this is called erectile dysfunction.

According to experts, stress, depression and performance-related stress are also among the many causes of erectile dysfunction. But if there is a problem with blood flow, then it can affect the erection. Any disturbance in the nervous system or hormone sensitivity can also be the reason for this.

Generally, erectile function is directly related to blood circulation and because of this, any disturbance in erectile function can also be a sign of heart diseases. Due to Kovid-19, the supply of oxygen throughout the body is disrupted and blood circulation is directly affected. The arteries that supply blood to the penis may become blocked or narrowed.

If this happens and blood will not reach the penis and then erectile dysfunction can occur.

Dr. Vineet Malhotra, Clinical Director, Dios Men's Health Center in New Delhi says, “COVID-19 has had a major impact on a person's overall health, including physical and emotional health. Sexual function and fertility are also directly or indirectly linked to the virus. Lack of physical exercise, overeating and excessive alcohol are also making health worse.”
